GGPoker has launched the Poker Integrity Council (PIC), which will spearhead an industry-wide effort to protect the integrity of poker by investigating allegations of cheating, conducting fair reviews and applying penalties to the most egregious cheaters.
The council is made up of highly respected members of the community, who will independently investigate suspicious behavior reported at the GGPoker tables.
In each case brought before the board, the following process will be followed:
DETECTION – suspicious behaviors such as collusion, botting, use of real-time assistance (RTA) or ghosting are flagged for investigation
REVIEW – relevant hand histories (with player details anonymized) will be reviewed by Jason Koon, GGPoker Integrity Ambassador, and members of the Poker Integrity Council
DECISION – board members will vote on whether or not disciplinary action is required
If disciplinary action is warranted, this may include the player being warned of their behavior, suspension or permanent banning of their account by GGPoker, and a permanent ban combined with forfeiture of funds.
Additionally, in the most serious cases, a decision may be made to add the player to an industry blacklist. GGPoker’s PIC has partnered with the biggest live poker tours and venues in the industry including the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT), Triton Poker, Poker After Dark, the Kings Casino, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) and many others. .
Blacklisted players will be barred from attending events organized by PIC allies, to further protect the wider poker community.
Notably, with the creation of the Poker Integrity Council, GGPoker can review the status of players previously blacklisted from the online poker room at their request and, in certain circumstances, remove or reduce bans currently in place.
The members of the Poker Integrity Council are:
Andrew ‘Lucky Chewy’ Lictenberger
Seth Davies – Run It Once
Nick Petrangelo – Upswing Poker
“I joined GGPoker with an important goal in mind; to help the GGPoker team make their poker games safer and fair than ever before,” said GGPoker Integrity Ambassador Jason Koon. “It’s an honor to launch the Poker Integrity Council and go one step further to ensure online poker is safe for all players. Our long list of allies also means that the wider community will be better protected via the industry-wide blacklist; we send a united message that there is no place in this game for cheaters.
A Poker Integrity Council press conference will be held at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on Tuesday July 5th.
