BetMGM/partypoker Tease Ontario Poker Championships Series

BetMGM/partypoker Tease Ontario Poker Championships Series

BetMGM Poker Ontario players will soon be able to compete for its first series of online tournaments, fuse poker can exclusively reveal.

Although nothing has been officially announced yet, a new tab named “Ontario Poker Championships” has been added to the BetMGM Poker client, suggesting its first series of online tournaments is imminent.

No BetMGM poker tournament has yet rolled out, and Ontario real money online poker players are patiently waiting for the first to arrive. Currently, the website doesn’t provide any details about the series other than a “Coming Soon” teaser, so that’s left to guess. But given that the series includes the “Championships” moniker, there’s no doubt that the network’s inaugural series would be exceptionally high-profile and grand.

BetMGM Poker was among the first online poker networks to go live in Canada’s largest province. BetMGM launched its poker platform in Ontario on April 5, just a day after the market opened, becoming the second online poker room to make it big after 888poker in the newly regulated market.

Soon BetMGM was joined by its sister brands – partypoker and bwin – sharing cash to form a three-skin online poker network.

The network has generously welcomed new customers with decent value first deposit bonuses, freerolls and ambitious tournament guarantees. The tournaments’ generous guarantees led to overlays, which meant that players were welcomed with more value.

The overlays kept coming, but the network didn’t cut guarantees in the early days. As summer approached, the network lowered the stakes.

Although the network has organized several promotions in the province, including the Sunday at half price promotion last weekend, the network has yet to hold an online tournament series.

The online poker market is entering autumn, a staple of the online poker calendar. Meanwhile, the world’s online poker rooms are hosting their flagship series of online tournaments with huge guarantees.

The BetMGM Poker Ontario network seems to be biding its time to host its inaugural tournament series.

What to expect from BetMGM Ontario Poker Championship Series?

It’s hard to guess what the overall series guarantees for the Ontario Poker Championships would be, given that the network hasn’t hosted a tournament series before. BetMGM’s recent online tournament series, summer PKO Partywhich operated in the American markets – New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan – had modest guarantees ranging from $150,000 to $135,000.

But the Ontario’s online poker market is much larger than any of the three US marketsas reported on Poker Industry PRO last month. The BetMGM poker network dominated the Ontario market for a few weeks earlier this month. If it is no longer at the top of the market since PokerStars has regained its pole position, it is not too far behind.

According to the latest cash game statistics provided by GameIntel and available on the PRO Platform, BetMGM Poker Ontario averages over 180 concurrent cash game seats.

Going back to the American market, the American network BetMGM Poker has an average of 60 to 100 simultaneous seats (60 in Pennsylvania, 90 in Michigan and 100 in New Jersey). Additionally, when comparing tournaments, Ontario MTB the schedule has a wider MTB offers with a wide variety of buy-ins.

Also, because it would be a Championship series – which, as the name suggests, should be quite prestigious – we expect the series’ global guarantee for the next Ontario Poker Championships to be around half a million.
